Health and Safety Practices - Installing and Maintaining a DPF Safely

It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that persons involved in the installation and maintenance of the DPF are aware of heavy lifting hazards and best practice lifting techniques. A DPF can range in weight from 8lbs to over 80lbs.

We also provide a Filter Cleaning Station (FCS) and this equipment is available to efficiently perform the safe removal and collection of ash and unburned soot in a controlled environment. When servicing a DPF without the use of a (FCS) Filter Cleaning Station, the removal of ash and unburned soot should be carried out in a well ventilated area in accordance with local occupational health and safety guidelines.

Appropriate safety precautions such as a facemask and protective clothing should be adhered to when dealing with the debris produced by the DPF. The dust removed should be treated as similar to vehicle brake dust and considered hazardous if inhaled. Waste materials collected from servicing a DPF should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
